FAQ

What exactly is a ceramic coating? It is a durable, long-lasting, protective coating that bonds to your paint for years, not weeks or months like traditional waxes or sealants. It creates a barrier between your clearcoat and damaging elements. The incredible slickness gives foreign particles a hard time sticking to surfaces. This means your car will actually stay cleaner longer requiring fewer washes, and fewer washes reduces the chances of creating swirl marks and scratches especially during the drying process. Ultimately your car's value is maintained by keeping it clean, glossy, and scratch-free.

How long do ceramic coatings last? Coatings are typically engineered to last between 2 – 6 years but some can even last even longer with proper care and maintenance.

After applying, do I have to maintain it? Yes and No. Let me explain. Coatings are so durable that you can just go about your business and let the coating do its job. It tightly bonds to surfaces and are designed to last. Although, not taking steps to care for your coating can certainly reduce the life of its shine and protective properties. Over time coatings can diminish but a few simple steps will help maintain its beauty and protective characteristics to increase it's durability and longevity.
How do I take care of a coating? The best way is to hand-wash your car at least once a month. You can also apply a booster sealant at least every 6 months to create a protective layer for the coating.
If manually washing isn't your thing, simply drive through a well kept automatic car wash, touchless car washes are the safest, and then wipe it down with CLEAN microfiber drying towels. Be aware that many car washes use high PH soap which helps remove dirt and grime but can also strip waxes and sealants.

How long does the coating process take? The process usually takes about 8 hours but can take up to 16 hours depending on the size of car and amount of paint polishing is needed. Coatings need at least 24 hours to cure, longer in cold weather, during which time exposure to outdoor elements must be avoided. Allow 3-5 days for full cure and maximum hardness to take place.

NOTE: While ceramic coatings offer superb protection, they do not prevent rock chips or other road debris from severely damaging clear coats and paint. Paint Protection Film (PPF) offers a higher level of protection but typically costs 5 to 10 time more and can reduce the reflective shine of paint. PPF can also benefit with an application of a ceramic coat to increase durability and lifespan.
